FAQ’S

There are two categories having different time limits:

1. Diplomat:

Someone holding a diplomatic status can buy a car in one year’s time from the date of issue of his MOFA ID card.

2. Staff member (non-diplomat):

Someone being a staff member for an embassy or an entitled organization possessing a non-diplomat MOFA ID card/ FBR booklet can buy a duty free vehicle within 6 months from the date of issue of  his MOFA ID card/ FBR booklet.

Applying for the Exemption Certificate:

• After signing the contract Alamco Diplomatic Bond will provide necessary documents.
• The protocol section of the embassy/ consulate/ organization will upload the documents in the online system of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Once approved in system the protocol section will send hard copies of the documents to the ministry.
• The ministry will then prepare the hard copies of the exemption certificate and send the “Original” in the drop box and “duplicate” to the “Bond section” at Islamabad Airport.

Customs Clearance:

• The clearance process will start once the original exemption certificate is sent to Alamco Diplomatic Bond and the duplicate to bond section, Islamabad Airport.
• It takes a maximum of 5 working days for the clearance of a car after the receipt of original and duplicate exemption certificates.

Working with the diplomats since 49 years we know the choice and requirements. Keeping in view all aspects we import what is most liked by the diplomats serving in Pakistan. We have different brands and almost all types of duty free vehicles including executive, 4×4, small hatchbacks and sedans.

In our list we also have vehicles from other diplomats. Nevertheless, if somehow a vehicle of your choice is not available due to high demand or a unique requirement then we can import it on demand.

We normally import vehicles from Japan. Nonetheless, if someone wants a European make then we can definitely import from UK. Our imported vehicles are selected from auction houses in UK & Japan after going through a tight scrutiny. Our teams in Japan and UK make sure that the vehicles are of good grades don’t have an accident history.

Import Procedure:

1. If a vehicle is not available in the stock then we will import it from Japan or UK.
2. The process of export will start after 3 working days of the purchase of vehicle.
3. In next 7 working days the vehicle will be transported to the nearest sea port and will be handed over to the shipping line.
4. The shipping line will issue the Bill of Lading after the vehicle is shipped.
5. The buyer will be provided with all necessary documents in 7 working days of departure of ship.
6. The protocol section of the embassy/ consulate/ organization will upload the documents in the online system of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
7. Once approved in system the protocol section will send hard copies of the documents to the ministry.
8. The ministry will then prepare the hard copies of the exemption certificate. They will send the “Original” in the drop box and “duplicate” to the port of discharge mentioned in the documents.
9. The Custom authorities will request a verification of duplicate exemption from MOFA.
10. The process of clearance will start once the verification is received.

Delivery Time:

1. It takes 35 working days to import a vehicle from Japan to Karachi port from the date of purchase of vehicle.
2. After receiving the Original, duplicate and verification of the duplicate exemption certificate it takes 10 working days to clear the car from the customs and deliver in any part of Pakistan.

Yes, Alamco Diplomatic Bond is a platform where you can buy duty free vehicles from the available stock in the diplomatic enclave or import from Japan/ UK. You can also be facilitated to buy from another diplomat already serving in Pakistan.

The benefit of buying a vehicle through Alamco is you are free from any sort of risk. Our technical team inspects the vehicle mechanically and physically  and prepare a detailed inspection report after going through several tests. After analyzing the inspection report our sales team access the value of the car.

We always have several cars in our list from other respected diplomats who request our company to sell their vehicles. Their reason for selling it to other diplomats is that for some reason the customs evaluate high duty and taxes on their vehicles. Which means they are left with only two options:

    ⇒ Sell it to another diplomat.

    ⇒ Export it back to their next station.
